The multitude and the Jews
Two parties always distinguishable from each other in John’s Gospel. The former (the multitude)
did not understand why He spoke of the desire to kill Him. Those of Judea (the
Jews) were astonished at His boldness, knowing that at Jerusalem they were
conspiring against His life.[i]
