O Olivet

“Jesus went unto the mount of Olives”

O Olivet, Mount Olivet,

Blest hill with oil so sweet

That springs from soil so soft and rich,

Touched by the Saviour’s feet.

‘Twas there the Son of Man did rest,

And to His Farther prayed.

From there did Jesus teach His saints,

And there was He betrayed.

O Olivet Mount Olivet,

What truth and wisdom poured

from Christ’s pure lips as there He sat

And taught His sheep God’s Word.

“Behold, I tell you now before

These sorrows come to pass,

Then shall the Son of Man appear

In pow’r and righteousness”.

O Olivet, Mount Olivet

What glory soon shall rise

And fill the earth and all the world,

With Christ’s great paradise.

His blessed feet shall stand again

On thee when He appears,

To crush His foes, and bring God’s grace

Of peace and joy, for tears.

“His feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives

and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof”
